The Big Move

I’ve mentioned it before, but just in case you didn’t know: I’m not originally from Wisconsin.  My family and I are, in fact, sort of new to Oshkosh (and the whole of Wisconsin), having only moved here in November of 2019.  Of course, we had no way of knowing the pandemic would hit only a handful of months later, so that’s put a bit of a damper on our ability to explore and meet people and familiarize ourselves more with our new home area.

A lot of people ask me what brought us to Wisconsin, and specifically Oshkosh.  The short answer is: family.  We visited family in Oshkosh and feel head-over-heels in love with the city, particularly it’s support of small businesses and the Farmer’s Market.  I like to joke that sometimes I feel like we were catfished – our visits were always in the fall, during the brief period when the weather is perfect, with gorgeous colors in the trees and apple picking and dozens of other things that drew us in.  When we finally made the move, however, we were hit with the frigid temperatures of winter, more snow than I think I had ever seen in a single winter. (“You’re from Colorado, though, there’s always snow there!” The area I was born and raised was quite a distance from the mountains, and very much so more plains/desert.  It doesn’t get much snow, and when it does, it’s usually gone in a couple of days.)  Our first winter here in Wisconsin was the year after the exploding toilets, though, so I’m very grateful to have missed that!

Despite being a bit shook by the weather, we still love Oshkosh and all of Wisconsin that we have seen so far.  We love the small-town, neighborly feel with all of the city amenities not far away.  I especially love the support the communities here have for small businesses!  There are so many shops that I didn’t realize existed anymore: from vacuum repair to boutique clothing, to my personal favorite, and actual camera store!  The Downtown Oshkosh Association has been so helpful with networking and meeting other business owners, and I love following the Visit Oshkosh pages on social media for new (and not new but still amazing!) and exciting things happening in Oshkosh.  It’s a dream living here, and my family and I love being part of the community.

But, chances are you’re not here to read about how much I love this community I’ve fallen into.  Chances are, you’re here to read about boudoir.

In The Beginning

Today’s blog is going to be just a little bit different.  It will be about growth and progression, and how excited I am to see where I am now compared to where I’ve been.

Miss A is going to be helping me with that.

Miss A is a repeat client (and dare I say, a dear friend) who has been with me since the literal beginning.  She was actually the first client I photographed after moving to Wisconsin, and has had sessions in all of my spaces: when I was photographing out of AirBnB/hotels, when I had my home studio, when I had my first commercial studio in Downtown Oshkosh, and now in my new studio.

Photographing her in all of these places has given me such a great visual of the changes I’ve experienced in the last 2 and a half years; changes in the location, my style, and my own abilities as a photographer.  I’m a very big believer in continuing my education in my craft, and I’ll never stop learning and striving to be better than I was yesterday.

2019

2019 is, of course, when my Wisconsin photography journey began.  I’d been photographing weddings for several years in Colorado before we moved, but I knew very few people in Wisconsin.  I didn’t have a studio, so I was photographing in AirBnBs or hotels (with permission).

Enter Miss A, who rocked her session.  One of the images from that session is actually a large metal sample in my studio, and one of my favorite images to date.

Cindy& Don

It’s no secret that I consider myself less of a photographer of people and more of a photographer of connections.  The connection between two people who are madly in love with each other has been my favorite to capture; first in wedding photography, and now in boudoir.  I love the intimate passion I get to capture during couples boudoir sessions.  The looks, the touches, the smiles.  It’s all magic, really.  I mean, session I photograph is magic, but love is a different type of magic.

Couples boudoir isn’t new, but in recent years has started to gain quite a bit of traction.  Something about the experience just seems to speak to some couples – and I’m HERE FOR IT.  I get almost giddy when photographing a couple who is head-over-heels in love with each other and not afraid to show it. And Cindy and Don were definitely not afraid to show it.  Their session was just *chefs kiss* perfection.

Not only are these two super fun people to work with, but they’re so incredibly in love with each other.  They’ve been together for 16 years, and still crazy about each other.  The way they look at each other melts my heart.

This session was all the things I want couples sessions to be: fun, intimate, and a little bit spicy, if you catch my drift.I’m very upfront with all of my clients that I don’t photograph exposed genitalia.  Not that there is anything wrong with that by any means, but it’s simply something I have no experience in.  I don’t feel I could do my clients justice in something I’m not versed in.That said, a couples boudoir session can absolutely be spicy without any exposed genitalia.  Cindy and Don brought the heat, there’s no denying that.  These photos of them in the window of my old studio – SWOON.  Did it just get a little hot in here?!  I practically screamed because of how amazing these shots came out.  I mean, just LOOK at how gorgeous this is!  The light!  The pose!  The expressions!  Just all of it. 

Oh, and we’re not even to the spicy part yet Before we get into the really spicy part of this session, I want to share these two photos of Cindy alone.  She’s a freaking goddess, and just a completely beautiful person.  In the small amount of time I was able to spend with her and Don, I could just tell she’s a gorgeous person inside and out, so I’m super glad I was able to capture a couple fun shots of her.

Now on to the spicy stuff.  You’ve been warned

This photograph of Don’s finger in the metal ring of Cindy’s collar is probably one of my favorite images from their session.  I’m a huge fan of BDSM boudoir and will jump at any chance to photograph it, but something about the implied pull in this shot is just….. freaking fire.  It’s so beautiful and intimate and sexy and so many more things!

This is just the beginning.  Their session only got better from here!

I told you it only got better from there!  I just love the top Cindy chose to wear for this session.  I’d never seen this top in person, but I’ve seen it on TikTok and have wondered how good they look in real life.  It definitely didn’t disappoint, but it helps that Cindy is an absolute bombshell

They brought their own items for this session, and I absolutely loved photographing them with them.  The cuffs, the chain, the flogger – it all seemed to go together so well!

We finished off their session with the shower set – which has easily been one of my more popular sets for boudoir sessions.  I can’t say I’m surprised.  What would be more sexy than a shower boudoir session?

I’ll leave you with a handful more of my favorite images from this amazing couples boudoir session.  I absolutely loved this session – and it will be one I remember easily, since it was my last session I ever had in my old studio.  But that will be a blog for another day

Miss B was pretty in love with the gray pair I have, and was absolutely magnificent in them. But let’s save those for the end.

First, I started Miss B with hair and makeup by Starstruck Artistry LLC, and as always they did a fabulous job! She is dazzling without makeup, but her blue eyes were so striking when contrasted with her eyeshadow. Absolutely stunning!

Did I mention that she chose to wear some pretty great pieces out of the client closet? Both the black bodysuit with the rose appliques above and the sage colored bodysuit below were items from my extensive client closet. I adore the sage colored body suit she selected to wear! It looked so ravishing on her.  With over 200 pieces in the client closet, I knew there would be something she would love and would look fabulous on her.

Miss B also brought her own black bodysuit to wear during her session. I’m crazy about how amazing it looks on her. And paired with the silver satin sheets? Stooooooooooooppppp!

Finally, we finished off her session with those gorgeous gray angel wings, and Miss B looked absolutely angelic in them! I can’t even express how gorgeous she is, and the angel wings highlight that intense beauty in a celestial way. What a goddess!

I don’t think I’ll stop being obsessed with these angel wings any time soon, so keep an eye out for more images with them, and for more pairs to become available. I can’t stop collecting them! Mine is currently one of the largest selection of angel wings in Oshkosh, and possibly in the Fox Valley, available for boudoir sessions.

As I mentioned last week, I’m just a *bit* behind on blogs. Both last week’s blog and today’s blog (and probably a couple more in the future) are from sessions back in April. Oops!

Miss A’s session had just a little bit of everything – and my GOODNESS was it AMAZING. As always, Starstruck Artistry worked their magic and brought Miss A’s vision for her hair and makeup to life!

This was actually Miss A’s second session with me, and she rocked this session just like she did the first one. This time, I had the angel wings for her to try on, and she looks absolutely divine.

Doesn’t she just make the perfect angel?!

Getting a little bit spicy

We did a bit of the more tame boudoir in the studio, with classic poses in a gorgeous red corset out of the Client Closet.

That was just a warm-up, though, and led us into some poses that were a bit more… spicy. Miss A chose to incorporate some amazing shibari into her session, as well as a paddle. Her last session with me also included a bit of BDSM poses and props, so this was something I was pretty excited about!

Angel wings weren’t the only thing we did – we also visited The Vault

We also spent a little time in the Vault, and Miss A wanted to wear the rich widow robe out of the Client Closet. She SLAYED in that robe both in front of the Vault door and on the stairs! What an absolute stunner!

Bring on the Glitter

We finished up her session with something I’ve never done before, but I absolutely adored: Miss A painted glitter into her scars. Talk about an absolutely amazing idea! Showcasing how we can take the hardships from our past and turn them into something beautiful. And she absolutely did!

It’s been pretty quiet over here on the blog for a few months. I’m pretty terrible at blogging and keeping up with it, so sorry in advance!

It hasn’t been quiet in the studio, though! Since moving into the new studio, I have been busier than ever helping women celebrate the bodies they’re in and appreciate the goddess that they are. It’s been an incredible 6 months, and I can’t express enough how much I appreciate every single woman who walks through my door.

Over the next few blog posts, I’m going to be highlighting my newest studio obsession: WINGS.

We love wings of all kinds over here at Inferno. When I think of wings, barbeque, buffalo, and parmesean garlic are the first words to come to mind. And while the wings I’m going to be talking about in these blogs are certainly delicious in their own way, it’s not quite THAT type of delicious.

So let’s jump right in: Angel Wings. In fact, some of the only angel wings in Oshkosh, and in the Fox Valley!

Miss R here wore my very first set of wings in the studio: a gorgeous pair of white wings that are impressively large and, of course, look AMAZING on her. She rocked these wings and looked like an absolute natural at wearing them.

Isn’t she incredible?! Talk about a total goddess!

More than just Wings

The fun didn’t stop at the wings, though. Miss R smashed her entire session, from the stunning outfits she brought (a beautiful light teal two piece and a stunning white two piece) to the energy she brought to her session, everything was perfect.

As always, Starstruck Artistry LLC brought visions to life with Miss R’s hair and makeup. Everything they did was absolutely flawless!

Overall, Miss R’s session was a dream and we had such a blast together. In her own words:

“Working with Lisa was such a blast. I felt that she understands why I’m insecure and worked with me to see that I shouldn’t be. During the photo shoot I felt sexy. I felt like a BAMF that could crook my finger and get anything I wanted. Lisa really is amazing and every woman deserves to feel the way I do every time I look at my images.”

I’m not crying, YOU’RE CRYING!

Did you know I moved?  My boudoir studio is now located at 404 Main Street in Suite 302 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  So if you’re looking for boudoir photography in Oshkosh or the surrounding area, I’m right on Main and in the heart of downtown!

Angella’s session was the first official session in the new studio and I am OBSESSED with these images.  She was such a rockstar!  Like every session, Angella started with hair and makeup.  Our hair and makeup artist, Jennie with Starstruck Artistry, did a fabulous job, as always.  We even created a TikTok video of Jennie using her Beachwaver curling iron – which is SUPER awesome, by the way!  I grabbed some images of the in-progress just for sharing here.

The Two-Piece

First, Angella chose an absolutely gorgeous black two-piece paired with a stunning garter with crystals on it. Doesn’t she look absolutely FABULOUS in it?!

The Bodysuit

Then, she chose a pink floral bodysuit out of the Client Closet that made a great contrast with her dark hair and nails.  I adored her nails!  The matte black with the silver accent was flawless.  

I also adored her dreamcatcher tattoo!  I just love it when a boudoir session wants to show off their body art – their body IS art, afterall!

The Button-Down

Next, Angella brought a button-down that belongs to her partner to pair with white stockings and glasses.  I LOVE the look of this simple outfit!  She has the sexy librarian or girl-next-door look going on and it’s all *swoon*

The Feather Robe

After that, Angella pulled out a beautiful feather robe she brought along that was a gorgeous layering piece.  I just love this shot of her in it looking over the Opera House Town Square in downtown Oshkosh.  The snow on the sundial was a perfect backdrop!

The Grand Finale

Finally, we finished up the session with a couple of shots in the hallway, with Angella in a red bodysuit, the black fluffy robe, and a fedora – all pieces out of the Client Closet!  We grabbed one shot at the makeup station, too – which is a gorgeous vanity with a Hollywood-styled lit mirror.  It’s been a huge hit for selfies so far!

And that’s probably the best way to describe AnnaMary’s session: an absolute blast!  She totally rocked every part of the session; from the normal boudoir, to the BDSM-inspired, to the rave lights I had fun planning.  I almost can’t believe how great these images are and how much fun I had photographing AnnaMary in it.  She was right at home posing for me, and did an amazing job with everything I asked her to do.

We included BDSM props, such as a ball gag and riding crop, incorporated rave-styled neon-like lighting, and mixed in classic boudoir to allow for a variety of beautiful and colorful images that I just ADORE.  AnnaMary even chose to wear my beautiful tulle skirt that I have as a part of my client closet, and it looked so stunning on her!

When she arrived at my Oshkosh boudoir studio, I just KNEW her gorgeous colored hair would be perfect for the neon light effect we had talked about for her session.  We used a combination of red/green and blue/green for the neon effect, and it did NOT disappoint!

Brand new blog on the very first boudoir session in my freshly redone studio in Oshkosh!

We had torn out the carpet and installed new floors, and decorated the boudoir studio for a clean, white aesthetic only a couple of weeks before Delilah’s session on August 9th.  I was so, so excited to finally have someone in the newly redone space, and Delilah was an absolute ROCKSTAR.

Delilah wore three outfits during her session:  A beautiful pink two-piece with garters from the Client Closet, a stunning plum body suit that she brought from home, and a gorgeous black bodysuit from the Client Closet.  She chose to layer a white lacy shawl from the Client Closet over the black bodysuit for a handful of poses, as well.

Delilah was so much fun, so full of energy.  She did such a great job with each of the poses I asked of her.  I had an absolute blast, and I LOVE her images.  She’s a total goddess and an absolutely magnificent woman.

I asked Delilah to describe her experience in her own words, and this is what she said:

“I loved the environment, cleanliness of the outfits and studio. Lisa has such a positive attitude it made my nerves just disappear. I had such a blast, I wished it wasn’t over.”

Josie and Michaela | Nic Charles Photography Workshop | Lisa Wiker Oshkosh, WI Boudoir Photographer

This Wisconsin snow has been throwing me for a loop – there’s so much of it, and it actually sticks here!

Of course, after a handful of nice, sunny days, a weekend snow storm ruined plans I had for a Saturday morning outside of Oshkosh.  But, it worked out for the best, because I was able to attend a workshop hosted by model and photographer Josie Fox and photographer Nic at Nic Charles Photography. 

I wasn’t sure what to expect, since I hadn’t ever been to a workshop before, but I’m so, so glad I made the decision to go.  The experience was incredible!  Nic is an amazing photographer and incredibly knowledgeable, and Josie and Michaela were both unbelievably amazing models.  Josie is a photographer herself, and had an amazing amount of photography and client-relation advice and tips.

The Setups

There were a total of three setups during the workshop: headshot, fashion, and boudoir. 

Headshots 

We started with the headshot setup – the portrait of Michaela to the right is one example.  The lighting was perfect, focusing on the subject and leaving the background darker. I’m so, so in love with the images from this setup! There are a couple more below.

Fashion

The second setup was a fashion-style setup.  Josie and Michaela were total rockstars.  They’re both so incredibly amazing at what they do!

Boudoir

And then there was the boudoir setup, which was totally my jam.

The entire set-up was amazing.  The bed, the decorations, even the panes of glass against the wall were perfect.  Everything was coordinated beautifully.  It was immaculate and it was clear so much thought went into it. 

Josie and Michaela were photographed individually and then did a set at the end together.

All of the images from this workshop were total fire.  The experience was amazing.  And I was able to connect with other photographers from the area for the first time since moving to Oshkosh, as well as get a peek at a beautiful studio in the city.

I had a blast, and I can’t wait to get the chance to do it again!
