Strip Down: The Places I Love to Shop For Lingerie | Oshkosh Boudoir Photographer
Choosing the lingerie or outfits for your boudoir session can seem like a bit of a daunting task. What places have the things you’re looking for? Is the sizing accurate? Do the items look as good on real bodies as they do on mannequins in store windows or online listings?
I’ve got some good news: I’ve done all of the heavy lifting for you and compiled a list of some of my favorite places to shop that I have actually tried (you’ll find these names on quite a few of the Client Closet pieces). But first, let’s get into how to choose your outfits for your session.
Tips For Choosing Your Outfits
1. Wear what makes you feel sexy. Boudoir sessions are all about bringing your sexy side, so if you put something on and you feel uncomfortable, move on to the next option. Consider it sort of like searching for the perfect wedding dress. When you put it on and can’t help but spin in front of the mirror or think, “Heck yes, I’m sexy!” then that is the piece you should wear on shoot day.
2. Consider what you’re planning on doing with your images. If you’re planning on gifting them to a partner, pick things they like and incorporate some of their favorites, like a favorite color, panties paired with a jersey from the sports team they follow or a shirt you got them at your first concert together. The opportunities are endless!
3. Pick items that flatter your favorite parts. If you want to show off your gorgeous decollotage, then choose something that really shows off those girls. Maybe you’re a fan of your own derriere and want to show off the goods. Choose at least one piece that accentuates whatever features you love most about yourself.
4. Choose items that are just the right size for you. You don’t want loose lingerie that gives your body no shape or hides your beautiful curves. On the other hand, lingerie that is too tight can be unflattering and uncomfortable.
5. Above all, you want your outfits and your lingerie to do one thing: make you feel like a rockstar. You want whatever it is you select to bring the HEAT, so don’t be afraid to go a little out of your comfort zone and try the things you normally wouldn’t. You just might surprise yourself!
The Client Closet
One of the greatest things about the Client Closet (and yes, you can still choose to use that, too!) is there are pieces in all sizes, colors, and styles, and it gives you a chance to try on the things you love, and the things you’ve never thought about before. Some of the favorite items previous clients have worn were things they fully admitted they would NEVER have tried before I suggested it!

Shein.com is great for some seriously cheap and under-rated pieces. The quality is surprisingly good for as cheap as it is, and they have sizes all the way up to 5XL! The downside is, occasionally things are definitely cheap in every sense of the word, not just in price, and their sizing is inconsistent. Shipping times are also a bit longer, so only order here if you have about 4 weeks or more to wait before your session.
AdoreMe.com has some really great stuff that looks fabulous, as a price that’s definitely more palatable than some places. Shipping times are also a bit faster than Shein, but, as with most online places, sizing can be a bit off. I highly recommend ordering anything early enough that it can be exchanged for the proper sizing if it doesn’t look and feel fabulous.
Torrid.com is my absolute favorite place to shop for lingerie that has some amazing size-inclusive options. They have a great range of prints in their bra and panties, as well as an amazing selection of lingerie. The big bonus is they have store fronts that are usually close enough to exchange online orders, or to just get things in person. The downside is they only carry sizes 10 to 30.
